General Information

Little Owl School is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm*, Monday through Friday. Children must be 2 years through 4+ years of age by September of the enrollment year. Little Owl School supports an anti-bias, humanistic education. We welcome families from all lifestyles: social, ethnic, religious, political, cultural, sexual, racial, economic, geographic, and philosophical. We actively resist and challenge bias and support social justice for the greater good. We are a state-licensed facility through the California Department of Social Services.

* Our program is from 8:00 am- 4:00 pm, with extended hours/after child care available from 4:00 pm- 5:00 pm. Aftercare has limited enrollment.

Enrollment Procedure for September 2022- June 2023 school year

Little Owl does not have a waitlist.  We encourage parents to periodically check our website for enrollment updates for each class. 

In order for your child to be considered for enrollment, parents must attend a Parent Tour.  This tour is for adults only. Parent Tours are typically 60 to 90 minutes long.  At the end of each tour, parents are given an application for their child, along with a due date. Once we receive the completed application, your child will be placed on our Interest List.  

For all in-person events, participants must be fully vaccinated to participate. In addition, the city of Long Beach is currently under a mask mandate for all indoor spaces. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), people are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their last vaccine dose.


Olive Room: 4+ year old classroom

Parent Tours for our Olive Room are below. Please note that we have limited space available, and the child’s birthday must be between September 2, 2017 to August 31, 2018.

Tour sign-ups are on a first come first serve basis and space is limited.  Tours are typically 60 to 90 minutes long.  The Parent Tour dates are scheduled for the following: 

  • March 31st at 8:45 am
  • April 6th at 8:45 am
  • May 5th at 8:45 am
  • May 18th at 8:45 am

If you are interested in attending a tour, the information below must be emailed to [email protected].  If there is space available, we will sign you up for the date you indicate and send you a confirmation email. With the recent change in classroom enrollment, we would like to allow more families the opportunity to tour. Therefore, only one parent per family can reserve a spot for the tour. This tour is for adults only.

Oak Room: 3.4 years to 4+ year old classroom

Parent Tours for our Oak Room are below. Please note that we have limited space available, and the child’s birthday must be between September 2, 2017 to May 1, 2019.

  • May 18th at 8:45 am
  • June 29th at 9 am

The Seedling Room is fully enrolled for the 2022-2023 school year.

Acorn Room: 2 year old classroom

The Acorn Room is fully enrolled for the 2022-2023 school year. 

If you have a child that will be age eligible for the 2023-2024 school year, please periodically check this page beginning late August or early September of this year (2022) for Parent Tour dates.  Your child’s birthday must between September 2, 2019 and September 1, 2020.

Application Fee*

A $25 non-refundable Application Fee is due at the same time of application submission (check or cash only).

Annual Registration Fee*

A $75 per child non-refundable fee is due at registration and then annually for each year your child is enrolled. If your child(ren) are not attending our summer program, your registration fee is due in June to hold your September space.

Annual Materials Fee*

A materials fee of $250 will be assessed the first month your child attends, and then each September the child continues in the program. This covers the items for earthquake preparedness kits and part of the cost for the richness of materials used by all of the children in the arts program.

Pre-Payment Policy

 To maintain stability and continuity of our program, we are implementing a tuition pre-payment policy, which will take affect for the 2021-22 school year. The tuition prepayment is non-refundable and will be applied to the June 2022 tuition payment if the student remains enrolled for the entire school year (September – June). The amount will be equal to a full month’s tuition plus an aftercare fee if applicable. 

Sibling Enrollment Information

Upon enrollment of your first child, we offer sibling priority for subsequent children in your family to attend our program. It is the parent’s responsibility to request, complete and submit an enrollment application in January of the year the child is age eligible.  It is imperative to note that siblings are given priority to join the school when they turn 2 years old prior to summer or fall start times. We cannot guarantee a space for siblings for our older 3 or 4 year old classrooms.

In addition, siblings are only given priority when the second child is enrolled within 15 months of the last day of the first child or both children are attending Little Owl at the same time.

We offer a 10% reduction in tuition for the second child and any additional children enrolled concurrently.  The 10% discount will apply to the additional child’s monthly tuition and not to any additional fees, such as Materials Fee or After Care.
